Innovation: the feed of the future is made today by Grinsect

Our innovation aims to produce protein in an eco-friendly way by reducing our ecological footprint as much as possible while offering alternative solutions for waste management and feed production.

Although intensive insect farming has a decade-long history in Europe, the use of farmed insects in animal feeding has gained increasing attention only in recent years: utilizing insects in such a way is not only an attractive investment opportunity but also necessary for our planet as it brings a solution to the growing global protein crisis.

There has been a massive increase in the demand for black soldier fly breeding technology, with many research and development projects taking place worldwide to optimize and automate the large-scale breeding of insects.

Since its establishment, Grinsect's engineers have been innovating to push the boundaries of a new technological direction in animal nutrition, operating in a sustainable and efficient system that meets the needs of the 21st century. In Hungary's first insect protein manufacturing facility, we can reduce or increase our production according to the current needs thanks to our own-developed breeding technology equipment.

A fully controlled and closed environment
A fully controlled and closed environment

To ensure our stock is contamination-free and to protect it against infections from other species, our breeding, rearing, and processing processes are compartmentalized and carried out within a closed building using specially designed systems and methodologies. In our intensive insect farm, we have created a special microclimate optimized for the needs of the black soldier fly to maximize our production. To ensure this, we run our day-to-day operations in a closed environment completely separated from the outside.

Vertical rearing system
Vertical rearing system

One of the strengths of intensive insect farming is that it can be done in a vertical system, so our production is not limited by the floor space of our rearing unit, as we can quickly pile upon 4 meters high. It is also a predictable, practical, and efficient solution for controlling production volume at any given time.

At the Grinsect production facility, our larvae are fattened exclusively on feed-quality plant-derived byproducts from registered and trusted partners, without adding any artificial substances, chemicals, or medicines to our substrate of larvae stock. Our products, therefore, contain 100% black soldier fly larvae, whether live or processed.
